This morning, the Deputy Premier announced the lockdown of the South East Queensland LGAs of Brisbane, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Lockyer Valley, Logan City, Moreton Bay, Noosa, Redland City, Scenic Rim, Somerset and Sunshine Coast, would be extended to 4pm on Sunday, 8 August 2021.
As a result, The Brisbane Golf Club will remain closed and will not re-open until 9am on Monday, 9 August 2021 at this stage. This includes the Course, Golf Shop and Clubhouse.
While the Office of Liquor and Gaming Regulation as well as Golf Australia advised there would be no golf during this lockdown, some confusion was caused by the direction provided by the Chief Health Officer which appeared to have not been updated. Subsequently, last night, this direction was updated and it was re-confirmed that golf couldn’t be played during this lockdown.
The key messages from Queensland Health are:
- Only leave home for essential reasons listed;
- Stay home and stay safe;
- If you have symptoms get tested; and
- If you are over 60 and haven’t yet been vaccinated go and get your first vaccine.
If you have any questions at all, please contact myself or our CEO, Geoff Kuehner via reply email.
Kind regards
Mark Deuble, President
