The winning form of our Ladies’ Club Champion, Isabelle Simpson has continued with the sixteen-year-old securing two more major wins at BGC yesterday.
On a perfect Winter’s day, Isabelle won both The Brisbane Cup and The Brisbane Salver with a gross 75 and nett 73 respectively.
The Brisbane Cup is awarded to the player with the best nett and a count back was needed to determine the winner with three other ladies including Ann Fell, Jess Jenkins and Robyn Elphinstone also recording net 73’s. Isabelle winning with a nett 36 on the back nine.
Interestingly a count back was also needed to determine the winner of The Brisbane Salver with Jess Jenkins from Oxley Golf Club also recording a gross 75. Once again Isabelle was the winner with a gross 37 versus a gross 38 on the back nine.
Isabelle’s performance adds further interest to her match against Lawry Flynn on Sunday, 17 September 2017. The event is being held to see who is the ‘overall’ Club Champion of The Brisbane Golf Club with both having won the Ladies and Men’s Club Championships this year. Members are encouraged to walk the fairways with both players on the day and witness what is expected to be a very exciting and close match.
The wins delivered Isabelle her second honour board event at The Brisbane Golf Club.
A field of just under 50 ladies competed in both events with visitors from Coolongatta & Tweed Golf Club, Gailes Golf Club, Indooroopilly Golf Club, McLeod Golf Club, Mount Warren Golf Club, Oxley Golf Club, Pacific Golf Club, Port Sorell Golf Club, Redland Bay Golf Club, Tenterfield Golf Club, Tewantin Noosa Golf Club, Ulverstong Golf Club, Virginia Golf Club and Wantima Golf Club.
