Team Announcement: Round 6 Pennants

A win this Sunday against Keperra Golf Club in Round 6 would see The Brisbane Golf Club finish the season undefeated in BDGA Division 1 Pennants.

Whilst BGC has already confirmed back to back titles the team is highly motivated to finish the year in the best possible way.  Equally our Opens team has a chance to join our Masters (2017 and 2018) and Juniors (2017) and win their individual pennant.

BGC has won three and drawn two of its five matches played so far this year and sits three points clear at the top of the table. A win for Keperra would give them an excellent chance of finishing second on the table ahead of Royal Queensland Golf Club.

One change has been made to the Opens that played against Nudgee Golf Club last Sunday with Joel Negline replacing Tom Deane. The Opens are tied on seven points with RQ but have a superior for and against and a win is expected to be enough to guarantee them the individual pennant. If achieved this would be a wonderful reflection of their efforts both playing at home and away this year.

Our Opens team is Dylan Barraclough, Kurt Carlson, Steven Cox, Louis Dobbelaar, Wade Edwards, Lawry Flynn, Sam Howse, Tim Lukin, Joel Negline, Cameron Powell and Ilija Soldan.

The depth of our Master’s squad will again be on show when Rob Tatham becomes the ninth player selected this year. Rob is our current Senior Club Champion and we look forward to seeing him in action for the first time this season. This week we also welcome back Phil Melksham who was unavailable for selection against Nudgee.

Our Master’s team is Gary Brodie, Rick Davenport, Warwick Oxenford, Phil Melksham and Rob Tathem.

The Juniors have also made one change to their team this weekend. Hayden Millen returns to replace Matthew Van Eden. Hayden secured a valuable half point in our home game against RQ earlier this year. Ben Steiler has been a wonderful contributor for BGC in recent years and this weekend will be his last as a Junior as he turned 18 earlier this year.

Our Junior’s team is Jordan Hampson, Baily Ittensohn, Hayden Millen, Sam Slater and Ben Stieler.

In the other match this Sunday, Nudgee Golf Club will play RQ at Nudgee.

We once again encourage as many Members as possible to come out and catch the live action with tee off from 7am.

Live score updates will be available via the new live scoring app which is available at www.bdga.org.au and/or on Facebook.
