Ladies President’s Note

Dear All,

It is midyear already and another lockdown is upon us.  Let’s enjoy our golfing freedoms while we can.

We have had an exciting last month with our  Pennant teams working together to bring home 3 overall wins, and bronze only just missing out.

Our new champions for 2021 were determined on Sunday 27th June.  Congratulations to all, and we look forward to seeing your photographs entered on to the locker room wall of fame.

Further fun golf days are on the horizon with American Foursomes (prizes for best dressed), and the Royal Queensland invitation day, both in July.

Please don’t hesitate to talk to  any of the ladies committee if you would like further information on any of the upcoming events.

Stay well,

Sue Lewandowski,
Ladies President

Captain’s Corner

[ct_spacer height=”25″]

Wow what a month we have had.  The month of June gave us the finals of the Club championships, Senior Salver, the finals of our Pennant season and the 36 hole Foursomes Championships.  Let’s start with our Pennant season, with five teams, Gold, Silver and Bronze  playing Friday pennants over 7 weeks and Weekend 1 and Weekend 2 playing Sunday pennants over 7 weeks it has been a very busy time.  We hosted twice at Brisbane and they proved to be very successful days.  Thank you to all those who volunteered with the morning teas, spotting and marshalling the course. Without your support it would not have been as successful.  To the caddies who kept our players on the straight and narrow when playing, thank you.  To our team captains, thank you for organising the teams each week.  To the players, congratulations for giving us such a successful pennant year with Gold, Silver and Weekend 2 taking  first place and Bronze only missing out by half a game to come second.  Weekend 1 with a tough season having players out with club championships also made us proud.

Captain

RULES & TIPS

[ct_spacer height=”25″]

Local Rules

A reminder to read all the Local Rules on the back of the score card and also on the MiScore App under local rules. There is also the notice board outside the Pro Shop which will have other local rules from time to time e.g., after wet weather where preferred lies may apply.

Another local rule which can come into effect during a round of stroke play is the maximum score (Rule 21.2b).

8.1 In stroke play, a player’s maximum score for a hole shall be five over par gross score.

This is in effect to help the pace of play.  Player are expected to stop playing a hole when their score has reached the maximum.

AROUND THE TRAPS

Good Golfing!

Yvonne Butcher aced the 19th for her first hole in one, while Helen King aced the 13th during a social round. After using her 7 iron off the tee Helen looked everywhere for her ball (including the bunkers) and of course it was in the hole! Congratulations, ladies and well done ladies for achieving these impressive feats.  A golfing moment to treasure.

Yvonne Butcher on the 19th | Helen King on the 13th

Ladies Let’s Golf

What could possibly cause a traffic jam like this outside the Ladies Locker Room?

Please consider volunteering to escort a group of up to 4 Ladies Let’s Golf players this coming term.  We have had a change of days and we are trialing Mondays instead of Thursdays.  Escorted golf times are Mondays at 12.28 pm (with possible second group at 12.36) and Saturdays at 3.15 pm (with possible second group at 3.23 pm) – See the days and dates in the table below.

If you are a regular or experienced/semi-experienced player, please consider helping as your expertise is so valuable to beginners.  If you are a Ladies Let’s Golf graduate, please consider helping, as you know how much this benefits a beginner’s game.  Please check your diary / calendar and if you can help, please contact Kerri by email kerriwood23@icloud.com.

When everyone helps just once per term, we will easily cover all of the required spots and really assist our newest players to understand the game as it is played.  Perhaps share the task of escorting, if that makes you feel more comfortable and confident as an escort.  Both 6-day and 7-day members can both escort either on Mondays or Saturdays and a motorized cart is provided.

The dates and times for Term 3 are as follows:

Saturday 17 July and Saturday 14 August have already been covered.  Please email with any date(s) you are available to escort and we will in turn contact you with a confirmation.

Thank you in advance for your help and time and here’s to great golfing.

Lisa Schoutrop and Kerri McGuire (LLG 9-hole escorted golf)
