Home Run
The 523 metre, par 5, sixteenth requires a strong drive uphill to a landing area that hides a shallow bunker on the left side of the fairway. The right side of the fairway is bounded by large trees and thick rough. A strong second shot will set you up for a pitch to a long narrow green with significant contours and borrows. The green is bounded by a lake on the right and bunkers on the left and is one of the more heavily contoured on the golf course. A shot over the back of the green will find your ball in a deep swale.
Naming the Hole
Home Run – ‘Strap yourself in’ as it’s the turning point from the far corner and this long Par 5 hole up and over the rise starting the 3 hole stretch heading northward back toward the Clubhouse.
Playing Tip
At 525 metres from the back tees, this is the longest hole on the course. A strong tee shot will allow you to advance your second shot within 100 metres of the green, and a well controlled approach will leave a birdie opportunity.
History
It was once Hole 9 on the extended layout but the alignment remains relatively unchanged. The distance this hole was from safe cover led to he current storm shelter being constructed and opened in 2008. The green was converted to Champion in 2014.
